Borders & Gates participated in the Employment Matchmaking Event as a Speaker and Training Provider, organized by Education For Employment – Egypt (EFE-Egypt), with the support of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The event brought together women entrepreneurs, particularly from the Sudanese community, creating an opportunity to hear directly about the challenges they face in managing and developing their businesses.
Our Contribution
Borders & Gates delivered a workshop focused on the challenges faced by micro-business owners, particularly during the early stages of building and growing their businesses.
The discussion looked at how entrepreneurs can move from relying on a specific skill or craft to building a structured business with clear growth opportunities. It covered practical ways to better understand business numbers, make informed decisions, and prepare for financing and other opportunities that can support business development.
The conversation also highlighted that access to financing is only one part of business growth. Having the knowledge and ability to manage the business effectively is equally important.
Supporting Women Entrepreneurs
Many of the participating entrepreneurs already had valuable skills and products with real potential. The challenge was often turning these activities into businesses that are properly structured and ready to grow.
The workshop focused on practical business management, financial understanding, and decision-making, helping participants look at their businesses from a broader perspective and identify what they need to move to the next stage.
In Collaboration With
This workshop was delivered in collaboration with Education For Employment – Egypt (EFE-Egypt), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the Alexandria Businesswomen Association (ABWA).
